Comfort & Joy

23 Nov 2019 | 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

We hope you can join us on November 23 at 10am in the Fellowship Hall for Comfort & Joy. We gather to knit and crochet prayer shawls, and we pray, reflect, knit/crochet, and tell stories.

Exactly what is Comfort & Joy? We are a loosely-knit group (See what I did there?) of folks from St. Thomas’, Holy Comforter, and now Epiphany Episcopal Churches who get together one Saturday a month at 10:00am in the Fellowship Hall at St. Thomas’ to knit and crochet prayer shawls, baptism blankets, scarves for Meals on Wheels, baby hats for newborns, lap blankets and a few other things I’ve probably forgotten.

You don’t even have to come and stitch with us to help meet our Meals on Wheels goal! All scarves should measure 5″ – 7″ wide and 60″ – 72″ inches long. They need to fit in gallon-sized Ziploc bags. Our goal is 200+ scarves by Thanksgiving.

Folks have asked, “What if I don’t finish?” “What if I’m really not very good?” My response is “So what?”  You tried it, it didn’t work for you, and that’s ok. My own life philosophy is that I’d rather regret the things I *didn’t* do than regret the things I tried. I am a terribly unskilled knitter, but I have knit 2 prayer shawls. I am an adequate crocheter, but I hold the hook wrong and can’t really read a pattern. But, I do what I can. If you have any questions, I’ll be more than happy to (at least try to) answer them.
