Sabbatical and Summer Activities

Two weeks from today, Steve and I leave for Sabbatical. Again, I am so amazed at the generosity of our parish in allowing us both the time and the funds to make this Sabbatical a renewing experience.  But while I am away, there will be some wonderful things happening at the church.

Sometime around the end of May, Maxalea, who built our Columbarium, will rebuild the wall around the patio, and tear down the grey planters.  They will put in new landscaping using plants that are excellent in an urban environment that gets a lot of sun. They will be adding four shade trees so that in the future we will be able to enjoy the patio in the summer.  We are looking into getting a few more tables, and making the patio an inviting outdoor space.

On June 10, our beloved Jo Leslie, deacon intern, will be ordained at the Cathedral of the Incarnation. I will miss her terribly, but am so thrilled that she is becoming a Deacon to serve in this diocese.

On June 30 and July 1, a local theater group called Third Wall Productions, will put on “Jesus Christ Superstar” at our church. This will be a fund raiser for the church and should be an excellent performance.

During July, Tuesdays at Tom’s will resume, with a Trivia night, Game night, and an outdoor Movie night for the whole family.

On August 1, we host the Cockeysville Precinct’s National Night Out, with games, police dog demonstrations, and lots of fun for everyone. Even the Marines will be there!

And August 7-11 is our annual VBS, this year with the theme “Beauty and the Beast.”

In Closing

O Lord support us all the day long, until the shadows lengthen and the evening come, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over, and our work is done. Then, in thy mercy, grant us a safe lodging, and a holy rest, and peace at the last. Amen
