2017 has been a good year for the Pet Ministry and those amazing creatures and companions that we have so selflessly helped.
In October, Rev. Loree held a beautiful service for St. Francis Day Blessing of the Animals where we celebrated all of God’s creatures. In August we collected $120 from our National Night Out event for the Kibble Connection program reaching many Meals on Wheels clients. Later that month, we raised $180 for the Military Working Dog Support Association and reached our active troops overseas. This past December at our Christmas Bazaar, our Santa Paws event raised $200 and collected many supplies.
In addition to accepting these donations, we were afforded the opportunity to start conversations with the donors, often discussing pets, families, and ultimately the many happenings at St. Thomas’.
In short, this ministry not only helps pets and companions in need, but helps to build bonds between St. Thomas’ and the community.
In 2018 the Pet Ministry will adopt its own model of distributing donations to a well vetted list of recipients, concentrating where the need for our support is greatest. If you would like to get involved, please contact Jill Dumser at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for your generosity in supporting both ends of the leash.
